Hockey pucks do work. They are cheaper and stronger. The local mud guys here use them all the time.

Lol, I believe it. Better than buying the body lift kit. How much of a b*tch is it to do a body lift like that at home?

Just drill a hole in the puck for the bolt to go thew. Its just a spacer.

You might need new bolts too. other than that, you should just be able to put a jack under the body right next to the mount and jack it up to get the puck inbetween the body and the frame. Do one at a time. I have yet to do this, I am still debating doing a 3" body lift or just do the 1 or so that the pucks will give me.

Yeah thats my one issue, I am looking for a little more lift than what the puck will give me.

im guessing stacking them would be as unsafe as stacking blocks under leafsprings is?

No I don't think that would be too bad, you will definetly need longer bolts then. It will just look a little bit goofy. But I guess you wouldn't mind, would you?
