Default Tow/Haul question

I have an 06 1500 LS with 4.8. In towhaul the engine revs so much higher to shift. I would guess this is normal. Question is... It seems to rev up to almost 3000 before shift from 2nd to 3rd...Normal?? This just seems to be a lot of RPM's to shift. By speedometer I have to be doing almost 45 to shift to 3rd.

Thanks for help.

yep... in theory you'd only use tow haul when you were towing (or hauling) a load so heavy that low rpms could bog the engine (and would be bad for the trans in the long run). so its completely normal.
