I have a 03 Silverado z71 since new.
Had tranny cooler lines rust and pump out all tranny oil on way home.
Now it won't shift into 3rd.
Like its in N

So my question is should I go to a tranny place and have them rebuild
for what I was quoted 1200-3000 depending on what they find 1yr 20000km warrenty
or
GM factory referb
3000
3yr 60000 warrenty

last tranny was a referb replaced about 5yrs ago under warrenty and worked fine b4 all the oil was pumped out.

I have heard rumors that tranny places can make em better then new
or should i bother just get nuther referb?

 

I think the answer is simple
A possible 3000 with 1 yr warranty
or referb 3000 with 3 yr warranty

I would go with the 3 yr warranty

 

I'm leaning that way but im not really sure the tranny is shot.
If I go to GM its a for sure 3000+
Maybe a tranny place can fix and possibly make it better.

i only drove about 10km at most when it started slipping when I got home noticed oil all over under hood took front off and then could see where mess was coming from.

when the Last tranny went (sad isnt it)
I would get tranny overtemp message on computer.
but it was fulla oil....

another thing the tranny was replaced 5yrs ago but only has 20000km on it.

I also called the most expensive tranny place in town according to my tow truck buddy.

bite the bullet and go to the stealer for a tranny and full brake job caching....

well got the tranny rebuilt new cooler and lines all brakes done diff fluid changed front and back 3800 big ones tax in ca ching.

na bad i guess considering GM wanted 3000 for tranny alone b4 taxes

chevy on the road again shiftin nice with brakes awsome
