Default Travel trailer or 5th wheel?

I have a 2004 Silverado crewcab 5.3 auto 2wd 84.000 miles. I'm wanting to upgrade my 18 ft travel trailer. I'm just trying to get others thoughts and experences on the types and weights of rv trailers you have pulled.

Go with a 5th wheel, there is nothing easier to pull and maneuver, as soon as the cash comes in I'm getting a gooseneck horse trailer...

You might want a different truck though

I have heard that with a crewcab I may have trouble turning unless I use a sliding hitch.

That is true... A 1500 crew cab has a 5'6" bed while the extended cab has the full 6'. If you were to upgrade to a 3/4 ton the bed is 6'6" long on the crew cab models

I just purchased a car carrier from u-haul. . . Best trailer i've ever owned. It is heavy duty and still in great shape!! Check out their website!! They can give you more info on how much it can haul and dimensions

I am towing a 30 ft trailer trailer that weighs about 7,300 loaded w/ my 06 5.3 crew cab. Goes fine as long as I am not in a hurry. I also don't fill the water tanks as we tend to go places that have hook ups. if you are going to fill the fresh tank, bring along heavy toys, or are in a hurry, you'll want something smaller than i have or more truck. It's really the gearing I believe, as I have the 3.43's... If I had 3.73 or 4.10 I believe i would be just fine. Regarding the 5th wheel, you'll need the sliding hitch. My uncle knows from experience that the rear window costs a lot to replace... If you have kids or a wife, you may want to go w/ a travel trailer though, they tend to want to bring stuff that fills up the truck bed. Travel trailer w/ the weight distro hitch works like a charm.
