Truck won't Start???

Truck won't Start???
have a 99 NBS GMC Sierra. I went to start it last night and everything seemed to short out and drain the battery. I let it sit for a minute and the lights inside came back on like normal. Now i can put the key in and turn one click and all the dash lights will come on just fine. Here is the problem. if i turn the key 2 clicks to the ON position, everything goes black like the battery was disconected. I can also here a quiet continuous clicking coming from under the hood. I tried reseting the battery as well as jumping the battery. It seems as if the battery is fine but something is wrong with the starter or ignition. Or maybe some sort of short? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks

RE: Truck won't Start???
I was puttin in my sat. radio the other day and left the key on for too long. I had the same problem starting it. That clicking is the solenoid in the starter. I hooked my truck up to my brothers (sad day when dodge fixes chevy) truck and had him keep his at about 2500 rmps for a min. or so, and then cranked mine. It started right up. After you get it runnin leave it alone, or it will die. Just let it idle for 15 to 20 mins. and you should be fine.

Also, I was reading that if you have a bad disributer and/or cap that it could cut off power to the cylnders and your truck wont start. Check you fuses, battery, batt. Cable, and anything else electrical that has to do with the starter. Good luck buddy...

do you have a manual transmission? it sounds like your ignition is being overrided by a system cutout. like if you leave it in gear the engine wont start. maybe one of these sensors has come out of adjustment or shorted out.
