any idea what kind of shape those vortecs are in?

They will need to be cleaned by a shop and I would suggest replacing hte springs. They are not warped and all the valves are in tact.

You will have to change your intake. The angle is different.

center or outer valve cover bolt holes? did they have vortec on the older style 350s?

I'll have to check the bolt holes. Vortec motors started before the 5.3 was introduced. 266, 305 and 350 came in vortec.

indeed so mine is just the pre vortec motor but ive seen people put the vortec heads right in there imnot not sure on the intake fitment but maybe a aftermarket intake would really set those vortecs off.

I think the vortecs started in 95'.
