Default RE: turbo question

Anything can be possible but, sometimes diesel turbos are not made to handle the high exhaust temps of gas motors. Figure out what the turbo is (make/model)and look online for flow calculations, compresor maps, andAR ratios and look to see if this turbo is even going to give you what ou want.

If it is a Garrett then the turbo is probablymore universal so you should be ok. But do your research! Garrett has a really good website with a lot of information that is more for the do-it-yourselfer.

If your looking for more power and torque get a blower and bolt that on in 6hrs and call it a day.

But if you have questions about this let me know because I have some basic knowledge in turbos and have friends that are experts as well as a buddy who works for D-Max.

Again if your serious about this research, research, research.

any turbo will work on any vehicle... its just the exhaust manifold and amount of boost you need to worry about. A small turbo wont give a V8 an real amounts of boost, maybe 5-7 pounds. A large desiel turbo might be too large putting upto 15 pounds of boost on your engine. With stock internals that would not work to your advantage, probably throwing a rod through the block or oil pan... There are several things to help such as wastegates that regulate how much boost your turbo can create. Also with more than 9 or so psi you will probably need to change out fuel injectors and things of that nature, and definatly change your air/fuel ratios to compensate, as turbos would make it run way lean otherwise...
