u-joints
just replaced my u-joints on my rear drive shaft on my 02 4wd silverado. No problem...now it clunks! Everything is tight and the u-joints are greased. I've read here about drive shaft clunks and I have never had this till I removed the drive shaft to replace the joints. Drive shaft doesn't have a slip joint and grease fitting like my 79 did. Do I pull it back out and pack the end that goes in the trans? How much do I put in there?
Any help would be great!

I've had that clunk on my 01 for about 6 years and no problems. My set up on my computer and tranny is aggressive. 2nd gear scratches all the time, even at 1/2 throttle. Still no problems.
For what it's worth I had that "clunk" too, dropped the driveshaft and greased the splines like everyone says. It's fixed, didn't use gobs of grease but put enough on to fill the splines and slid it back in. Been a few years since then, still ok.
