Default Warranty

I have a year left on my truck warranty. If you buy a new truck now, the government said it would pay for warranty repairs. But, what about my warranty? The government says that they would cover only new purchases. Does anybody know?

Why did the gov't decide they would pay for warranty repairs? I thought it was the responsibility of the company offering the warranty.

Can't find the article right now, but yesterday, Obama said if the car company goes under, the gov't would cover warranty repairs - but the main objective is to keep the company from going under to begin with.

Well...imo, the gov't needs to stay out of the affairs of private business. Are we going to a nationalized car industry now or something? Is the president everyone's boss? I would NEVER quit my job just because the president tells me to.
