hey, appreciate the honesty. Probably can't cancel the order since they are in midst of shipment as we speak, but a return may be possible... I'll have to think that one over.
Got some Thorleys on my old '81 allegro motor home with a 468, hahaha, sounds great. Now, just to research a part number for the proper headers for my 5.3, just to compare.... damn.

Yeah, the ol Z06 is a fun one, but she's all stock at the moment. Cop magnet red, and being the first year they remade them, I may justsit on it awhile before thinking of hot-rodding it. Low mileage, mint, and I honestly spend more time on my bikes when the weather is nice. But yeah, being the lower output 385hp Z, you could probably put up one hell of a run against her, not that I know much about how your truck runs... But it would be fun!

Anyway... now that you've got a turbo on there, you happen to have some used long tube headers up for sale??? worth a shot here...

If I were you, I'd try to return them or sell them and get what you can back. You're going to be going through a lot of work putting them on to not see any real gains.

The OBX are stainless and a pretty great price...you get the y-pipe and resonators (look like cats but aren't). There's an up-loop on the rear drivers side primary that makes it hard to get to back two plugs though, so that's an annoyance. Other than that - they're awesome.

Pacesetters are fine and a good price.

Thorleys were awesome...if you get them, try Summit Racing or Auto Anything and play their prices against each other (each will price match).

And I sold mine long ago. You could sign up on performancetrucks.net and ls1truck.com and keep an eye open for some used ones.

My truck ran a 12.5 last time at the track, but that was spinning, crappy 60' and tappning the brakes twice because the back end felt like it was coming through. About to up the boost which will put me in the 11's.

Hey DamnYankee,
Right now I'm in the midst of cancelling my order for the JBA Cat4ward shorty headers... Hopefully this goes well and the refund is smooth because I'm really looking at picking up some of the Doug Thorley headers, mostly based on your first-hand experience and advice!
Looking at their 310Y long tube. Technically only for the 5.3 up to 2001 (I have an '02 Sierra), but I think it should work... right? All info I read about the 310Y long-tube says 99-01, and 02 and beyond is only part number for THorley shorties... which is a bit odd....

Also, if you happen to know, do I need the "DA" version of the header, with the dual air injection??? I can't tell right now, but I don't believe I have air-injection, but I could easily be wrong.
Also, you think I need an EGR fitting? Just trying to double confirm which version of the Thorley 310Y that I would need to order.
I think I'll go ceramic coated too.

I was just going to get the straight forward headers, no fittings, only option being the coating... but if you or anyone else here thinks I need the other fittings for any reason please speak up and let me know!

Thanks for the input and advice!

Sorry - been a few days since I've been on here. Yeah the Thorley 310Y's should be the same...those are the ones I had on my '03. You might try checking www.autoanything.com and play them against www.summitracing.com. Definitely get ceramic...don't need EGR or DA.

much appreciated. 310Y is a new ingredientin the recipe to shred!

Unfortunately for me, they apparantly didn't process my order cancel request in time because the JBA's shipped before they could cancel... So, I'm out a bit of cash and time waiting for them to arrive so I can just ship them back, then order the Thorley's instead.

These are gonna be some bad mammajammas with that DMH e-cutout!

YaY! I did something finally! It's just a (yes 1,no mood to F with the cat/O2 sensor) Cherry Bomb glasspack.Removed the exhaust at the muffler and threw it in the bed (scrap) and mounted a 25"(I think) glasspack. It dumps under the bed right in front of the rear axle. It's not much but at least I can hear it.I love to hear an engine. It's like a symphony for me.It actually doesn't sound bad being on a 305 with a single exhaust. The bottom end feels a little doggy not but she feels like she's gained a little in the mid and top end.Took it around the block (6 miles) and it sounded and ran pretty well. *pats self on the back* I'm all muddy now from lieing in the driveway and a little cold. It's 33* here in Ohio. =] Have fun ya'll and God bless.
