What do I need to do to swap in a 350?
I have a 1995 Chevy K1500 with a 305 in it, its a stick and it has 226000 miles on it.
I was wondering.. If I wanted to swap a 350 into my truck, is there a specific one that I would have to find to make sure that it would fit? Like could I go get a Vortec 350 from the junk yard and throw it in my truck? or do the years have to match up.
If you could tell me what would be needed, as in what to pull from a junkyard truck (going to look for a wrecked newer truck if possible.) that would be awesome.

you could change it right out with minor changes like sensors if you are keeping it in the same family of engines. if your going to swap to an LS or LT then you have alot more work to do. i think if i was going to do it myself i would just order a crate engine from summit or jegs and put my accessories on it. then you know what you are getting and have a warranty. a GM crate 350 with 290 hp isnt really that expensive, last time i priced them they were around $1500.. otherwise you could get something with alot of problems and have it cost alot more in the long run
