I just bought a 98 k1500 with a 5.7L Vortec, and am having serious motor issues. Luckily I have another truck with a good motor. The motor originally came from a 89 Camero Iroc, and is now sitting in a 88 C1500. I'm almost certain that the bolt pattern for the tranny is the same for both 2x4 and 4x4, and it will all fit nicely.

My biggest concern, is that the good motor is purely mechanical. There are no computers hooked up to this thing at all......running old school. I'm thinking that I can just remove the computers from the good truck, and install the good motor just the way its sitting in the bad truck. Am I going to have any issues with removing the computers?

Any and all suggestions welcome, this will be my first complete motor swap.....
