I have a 99 5.3 z71 that is completely stock except for a K&N air filter. Im looking for some ideas on some basic stuff I can do to increase horsepower as well as make it a little more off road capable. I know it is made for off-road to an extent, but im looking to maybe take it on some trails. Thanks guys.

 

Try looking a page or two back in this forum for a topic titled "ultimate free mods" or something along those lines by MrML7. There are a ton of things you can do to your truck for free or for very cheap that will benefit you greatly. I recently just did the "air box" mod which is where you cut or drilla hole in the front of your air box BELOW where the air filter sits in the air box. There is a smooth flat piece on the top front of the air box you can cut pretty easily. I cut about an inch gap all the way across the front on the bottom of that flat strip and I gained a ton of extra power.

But look for that other discussion and try some of those mods out.
