Whats Best?...
I just got an 05 silverado RSR and i've been tryin to decide wat i wanna do with it. Either nos or supercharger now i already got my nos kit picked out i just wanted to know whats the best supercharger for our trucks. Meaning the one thats gonna make the most power, least maintnance (cuz its my daily), realiability, and tunability being able to increase boost down the road once i get bored with what it comes with. Im lookin to get close if not over 500fw.hp im at 330fw right now not sure what the wheel hp is cuz its pointless to dyno it untill one of these is installed. Thx for your input.

Actually, you should do a dyno run before and after, that way you see what your true gain is.
Plus, i know people do it, but you shouldnt just add accessories like nitrous and a supercharger without doing anything to the rest of your engine, such as lower end upgrades, different pistons, heads, maybe even a lower compression ratio. If you just throw this stuff at it, youll be asking for trouble down the road i think.
I have an 04, and would like to supercharge, but if I were to do so, I would check with gm performance and see if there is a 4 bolt main block available and start fresh with that.

Yeah, if your spraying nitrous and boosting it, it's not going to last very long. Course if you have the money to throw at it, then go ahead. Take some videos of it so we can see what the limit is on our trucks, LOL.
True you gotta boost the engine before you well boost the engine. I've seen alot of nice LS-1's blowing up in WS.6's and SS's because they threw to much at her to handle, like a 200 shot etc....... Go for the easy ones first, you'll notice a big difference you'll also start getting a feel for things and what she can and can't do etc.... If you start spraying you'll also need to basically reset everything in your truck except for the rev limit and speedo raise, so all the fancy stuff you'll get with your programmer is pretty much unusable while you spray.
Well first of all im not doing both im gonna do one or the other. So its either gonnna be a 100 shot of NOS or a supercharger system. I was just wondering what supercharger system makes the most power out of the box. Since there are about 5 or more diff ways i could go with a supercharger. And i get what your saying about building the motor to handle both which im not an idiot or new to racing and building cars by any means. And actually right now im building a 900 hp blown bbc so you know where im coming from on my knowledge of motors. But this will be the first efi vehicle that i mod so i just wanted some input as to which supercharger system would be the best way to go. Cuz i only do oldies all carb motors so a lil behind on the new efi stuff. thx for your input guys.

I would do a programmer, cai, 180 t-stat, bypass the coolant line on the tb, tbs, and an electric fan before i did the nos or supercharger. I think those mods will be cheaper, safer, and you will get the same results.
Vortech makes some good ones and are around 4/4.5K. With NOS NX express is a good brand with a great warranty. I know my 4.8 can run with a 125 shot with no problems so you'll have no trouble pushing decent numbers. I don't think anyone was thinking you didn't have knowledge but when things aren't said people tend to fill in the blanks if ya know what I mean.
My truck comes from the factory with a diablo programmer(slp tuned), slp cai, slp 1.85 rr, slp headers, slp cat back, short throw shifter (its a 5 speed which i cant seem to find an aftermarket clutch for it), 180 t-stat, and electric fans. And the last lil part im going to buy will be a transdap tbs. Oh i will also be swapping out the shortys for long tubes and a custom freinkestein "tru" dual exhaust which will consist of offroad pipes and stock cat pipes (mocked up for when i gotta go to emissions) then into an x pipe and out the rear through either loud mouth or borla muffs. 3" pipes all the way through. Has anyone ever had any experience with procharger or know anyone that has one? I've heard alot of good stuff about em and seen almost 200hp gains in an out of the box system. Im kinda leaning more towards procharger rather than vortech since vortech systems are non intercooled systems. But theres also eaton/magnacharger, whipple, kenne bell this is my dilema lol. thx again for the input guys

I have had a few buddies with the prochargers on their mustangs and they always whipped the vortec charged mustangs. But I went with a kenne bell "whipple style" charger with 6 pounds on a mostly stock bolt on 5.0 and it ran great. I planned to rebuild the top of the engine but had a baby instead and sold it. I would lean towards the whipple style cargers cause they have an "instant boost" rather than having to build it through the RPMs. plus you can up the pulley size as you go.
Good luck, I can't wait to hear what gains you get.
