Default Who all has 4:10 gears?

Just wondering who all has 4:10 gears and what year motor tire size and what gas mileage you get. I am still wanting to go to 4:10 but keep on hearing mixed reviews about it will help or it will hurt my gas mileage. Since i went with bigger tires.

Hey hunt for game, I have a 2001 with the 5.3 with 35" tires and 4.56 gears. I get around 15mpg if I cruise. I didnt see a huge gain over the 3.42 that it used to have when I still had a 35" tall tire as far as mpgs. But overall driveability as far as downshifting to make it up hills on the freeway, and acceleration was worth it. Also I would reccomend a tuner to adjust for the gears. I have a superchips and love it. I had a hypertech and it was junk. It wouldn't turn off the abs light that comes on from the different gear size. Diablo sport is also excellent.

Well if you run 4:10's and have around a 33 tall tire or so it would be about the same as running 3:73. I put 33's on my truck and it hurt the bottom end a little with 3:73's I think it is about the same as running 3:42's

part of an racing tech post at another forum of mine..

To figure out your new tires effect on your gearing, simply take the old tire size, divide that by the new tire diameter, and multiply the outcome by the gear ratio.

Example:
I have 26" tires on my car with a 4.56 gear. if i go to a 28" tire, what will my new gears be?

(26/28)*4.56=4.24 this is my new effective gear ratio.

I have 4.10's with 32 inch tires, a 5.3 engine all wraped in a 2004 body. I mostly do small town driving around 30 miles and hour with stops signs about every1/4 mile and i make a lot of truns and what not. Im getting about 16.0 mpgs right now. But whenI do take it to the highwayIm guessing around 18+ im impressed with it. Next time im on the HighwayI will watch it for you.

BTW i do love the 4.10'sI do a little towing mostly snowmibiles so far. And it towes like a champ.
