Default Windshield whipers only work on high

2000 Silverado ext. cab V8. 130k or so.

Anyways. Just after a recent ice storm the windshield whipers only work on high. None of the lower speeds will do anything. Suggestions?

not exactly ruffneck.............the motor probably is too blame here......the words icestorm are what make me say that...if the wipers were frozen and you turn on the motor you would burn up the lower speeds.....high works ONLY becouse it is a straight application of 12v instead of a resisted 12v to obtain the slower speeds........in other words...my opinion and experiance say the wiper motor is bad

yeah the potentiometer is in the wiper motor its self....some vehicles have wiper relays also...if these go out you would also only have high

Default wipers

I just had to replace the pulse board inside my wiper motor. Approx $24 from NAPA. Maybe this will help.
