Default 1956 FORD F-100

Back when I was in high school, my father ran across a 56 F-100. We bought it and quickly started ripping it apart. This truck was a southern CA truck and was customized in 68' or 69'. The frontend, cab, and rear fenders were painted Cortez Silver and the bed was solid oak. The bed floor, sides, front and tailgate were all oak. The guy we bought it from got it from the guy in Ca and brought back to west Texas. He drove it about 2,000 miles total and lost interest. He then parked and there it sat for about 12 years. That's when we came along. The bed had to be the focal point of the truck. It was trimmed out with brushed aluminum strips and finished out in marine varnish. We took it down to the bare frame and put it back to it's former 60's glory. It took me close to 20 hours to restore the wheels. It had the old slotted mags from yesteryear on it. They looked really good on this truck. The original numbers matching 223" straight 6 was still in it along with the original 3 speed stick. The engine had dual Holley 1 barrel carbs on an Offenhauser intake, Isky Solid lift cam, ported head, header, and a Mallory distributor. Now keep in mind this was all installed in the 60's. We just disassembled it and replaced what needed to be replaced. The front and rear main seals are actually pieces of multistrand rope fiber. Weird huh? The 3 on the tree was swapped for a floor shifter. As for the guages, they were all Sunpro and Moon unit. The tach was a needle that moved from left to right. I'll try to upload some pictures as soon as I figure out how to. I graduated high school in 97' and we sold it that year to a guy in San Diego. As far as I know, he still has it.
