2002 1500 Ram AC will not work while idling. Works fine while driving and the engine light is on.

Could be a fan issue not pulling enough air over the condensor at idle. Do you have an electric or manual fan? How is the engine temp at idle?

Belt driven fan and the temp is low when idling.

If the fan clutch checks out ok, then more than likely you have a condensor issue. Check to make sure you didn't suck up a plastic bag or anything else in front of the condensor. Also check the fins on the condensor to see if it might have gotten damaged by something.

Some trucks have an electrical fan as well as a belt driven fan. Could this be the case?

Actually I think it is...I did a search and there are alot of articles about the condenser cooling fan and relay location on 2002 Rams. Check your condenser fan.
