Exclamation Emergnecy

So my gf and I have traveled from Colorado to Ky for her dads funeral which she had to pay for being that she is the only child and sole heir. She has a 1991 Dodge Ram 50 with the Mitsubishi 3.0 V6 5spd man transmission. While we were just getting into Ashland, Ky we both heard a pop and hissing noise coming from around the transmission area, since then weve been having problems driving the truck. It feels similar to that of that moment when you stall out a vehicle while idling. Usually occurs in 5th gear @ 50 MPH or greater.
I personally believe it to be a tranny issue. Were needing to get back to Colorado ASAP.
Any suggestions or input?

I hate to ad to your week of bad news.. but your tranni is on it's way out.
Take it to a transmission and let them road test it.
