86 ford f150

I am buying an '86 ford f150, with a 302 and EFI. I want to make this truck my toy, and not too worried about mileage, just horsepower. So I am trying to find out, if in the process of swapping out the EFI for carbuerator and intake manifold, will i run into any issues with it not working properly because of timing issues or anything like that, that could hinder my fun? Or smog issues? any information will be greatly appreciated.
