1989 Ford 5.0L to 7.5L engine swap?
Ok here's the scoop. I have a nice 1989 f250 light duty 4x4 with the 5.0L and crappy 5 spd. manual 82k actual. Gutless wonder!!! I want to transplant a 1989 7.5L with an auto or put a 4spd. on that. I have 2 donor engines. one a rebuilt 89 7.5 w/mild cam and a c-6 and the other a 1993 7.5. w/EOD auto. I'm leaning towards the 89 and put a 4spd behind it, that I also have. The Auto would be nice and easy for Dad to drive, then I'll need a c-6 auto for a 4x4. and everything to change that. This is for a farm truck. So I've done some engines swaps in the past. nothing with electronic engine control. First big issues is fuel pumps. the 89 F-350 donor truck has 2 frame mounted ones??? or don't worry about that? Looking at the engine mounts. the donor truck was a 4x2 mine a 4x4 not that serious, just a question? I do have the computer from the 7.5. What else do I need to be concerned with? Can I delete the convertors? and how do you fool the computer? Any other sites I can get info from? thanks. Just planning ahead.
Truck just sucks with the 5.0 and that stupid Mazda 5spd, We all hate to drive the thing! What was Ford Thinking??
ps. this was my uncles truck and he ordered it this way!!! What was he thinking???
