1990 4X4 F-250 460 7.5L Fuel issue
I just recently got this 90 F-250
Does any one know how many gallons front and rear tank have ?
My main issue is this:
Currently I am only using the small rear tank. Front tank is full, and when I turn the switch to the front tank I do see the gage go up but whe I turn the key over it will only stay on for about 2-3 seconds and dies.
If I turn the switch to the rear it will start up.
"I am turning the truck off before turning the swich to either side"
any idea what this may be?
Im thinking its the fuel pump but yet not sure if each tank comes with its own pump or just one on the out side to run both tanks.
Thanks

I have the same truck. Yes, each tank has its own pump. sounds like maybe the fuel selector valve, the selector switch or bad pump. Wish I had a better answer. I deleted the front tank on mine after I bought it because it leaked. I had a shop in towndo the electrical to eliminate the fuel switch and valve. Good luck with the truck.

thanks for the infoRich.
So then it may my full pump because when I turn the switch, it does indicates the tank is full.
If I drop the tank and take the pump off, is there a way to check or test if it works? or do I just buy a new one and hope it does the trick.
would you also know how many gallons each tank can fit?

before you drop it check the fuse. each tank has a sepperate pump so each pump should have a seperate fuse. though most of the time it isn't something simple its worth a quick check before dropping the whole tank. good luck.

So it was no fuse either. I had no choise but to drop the tank. Was pretty simple, just time consuming. Paid $130 for the pump, I turned the swith to the front tank, turned key over and the the pump kicked on and truck started right up so happy...now I can spend more money filling up both tanks . thanks a lot for your suggestions.
