1999 S-10 ECU problems?
Okay so i bought a 1999 S-10 2.2 2wd without power windows and locks. My computer when out like a few weeks after i bought it. I already ordered a computer. Someone told me that if you get the SAME exact computer like the one in the truck like having the options of power windows or not, that you wouldnt have to reprogram the computer. So in all words, if i get another computer that has the same options as my old one, will it work without having to "reprogram" it at a dealership?

No. It won't work.
ECUs are not plug and play components. Your new computer will still need to be flashed after it is installed in order to recognize all of the modules and sensors in your truck. (It is basicly introducing the computer to your truck.
By The Way... Tell your friend electric windows and electric locks are NOT computer network items. If your window or locks go faulty they don't create a check engine code.
