I would keep looking. A couple years ago I took over a friends payment on his 2005 F-250 with the 6.0 liter diesel. He had it customized with a slight lift and some really nice chrome 20" wheels with Mickey Thompsons. I have always been a GM guy, but this truck looked like a freakin big rig. I drove it and had to have it. The truck had 15,000 miles at the time. By the time it hit 22,000 I had it in the shop about 4 times with various issues. They never could fix a very strange noise the truck would make when first started. I think it was coming from the Turbo, but they never could find anything. It almost sounded like the turbo was stuck and then it would unstick and make a very loud obnoxious noise. I quickly sold the thing after this experience and hearing all the other Ford owners complaining about the 6.0. Don't get me wrong that bad boy towed GREAT when it was running right, but that wasn't very often. I am not sure if they have figured out the issues yet because I went running back to my old faithful GM trucks and haven't looked back!

I would'nt go with the 2005 model eather.
the 2006 model allot better
I'd say 2000-2002 and 2003 7.3l where very good
then 2006-2007 are good to
they had injector and turbo problems in that time
