Default Help fix speedometer

Hi,

I just bought a 83 F250, 351 motor, 3 spd auto. Speedometer doesn't work (needle doesn't move, stays on 0).

I've never worked on speedometers, so I have no idea where to begin and was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to start working on it!

Thankx

well first you should disconnect the cable from the tranny and put a drill on it and see if you can get the speedo to work...if it does work the issue is probably the gear in the tail shaft housing.......if it doesnt the the cable is probably broken.........there is a small chance the speedo head is bad....but not likely
