Default In the market...

Greetings all!

I'm in the market to purchase a new (or lightly used) F-350. I see several around my area, both gas V-10 and diesel V-8 and I'm having one heckuva time deciding between the two fuel types.

I know it is never as simple as the thought, "which one is better," but that's exactly what I need to figure out.

I instinctively want to go with a gas engine because I am familiar with them and have never had a problem I couldn't fix on my own. On the other hand, several guyz at my place of business suggest the diesel without even a moments thought on the matter. I am familiar with the costs involved with gas engines for both regular maintenance and repair. I've been told that diesel is very expensive to maintain and repair...even heard that just a simple oil change is almost twice as much as a gas engine.

So, to make my long question short...I need some suggestions on both which way to go AND why...and opinions are welcome as well.

Does anyone care to assist?

Thanx.

I would suggest the diesel- I have had many V10 owners tell me they regret going with the gas engine whereas there gas mileage is horrendous. I pull a 15000 pound fifth wheel and my FUEL mileage is around 10 MPG. Kickin around town unloaded is about 16 MPG with 4.10 gears. I got my first diesel in 03- an under engineered 03 dodge tranny forced me to sell and get an 05 F350. I had always been a gas guy myself and had the same reservations about the diesel but elected to go with the diesel for engine longetivity in the pulling area. Gas engines fuel mileage go way down when pulling. To make a long story short- I love my diesel engine and this truck. As for your decision it should ultimately depend on what you're going to USE the truck for. Hope this helps...
