Default Need opinion on possible F250 Purchase

Hey guys

well first, im new to the forum. right now i own a 94 F150 but i am looking at a F250.
heres some more info on the truck

its a 1986 Ford F250
its a 4x4 4 speed manual with 1 ton rear axle and leaf spring and 7.5 ft meyers plow.

it came from the factory as a 460 then a crate motor 460 replaced that one. after the current owner of the vehicle got the truck he put in the 351W for better gas mileage and so it could pass emissions (becaue the aluminum block welded itself to the iron exhaust manifold)
the 351 has a 2 BBl Carb. it has a new alternator, starter solenoid, PS pump, headlight swithc, the plow pump was rebuilt, same with front end gears. Manual locking hubs replaced, all Ujoints, all brake parts front and back, clutch plate, water pump, distributor, plugs, wires, and hoses alike. now the problem with the truck is it has 2 broken spark plugs so has 2 cylinders not firing but he claims it runs not so bad on just 6 cylinders. the back up lights dont work, steel cable running to the heater core is snapped so its stuck on hot, and thers just a little rust on the front of hood and some on bottom of doors. but it has lots of body work done to it.

i have yet to see it but he wants 2000 for it.

is it worth it?
thanks for your time
thanks,
Bill

EDIT: forgot to add, has brand new BF Goodrich tires on American Racing Rims

I would pass. It seems like it needs too much. Just my opinion.

i think the only major problem i have to fix would be the 2 cylinders with the plugs that are broken. the headlights work when on high beam though so that wouldnt be really anythingt to worry about right away

I guess the fact that it has already been through a few motors, the rust issue, and the fact that it isn't running on all 8 cylinders is a huge flag for me. Especially the statement about how it runs fine on 6 cylinders. When I hear people make comments like that I try to avoid their stuff...I am sure there is more issues than that. Why hasn't he removed the broken plugs and repaired them by now? I know you don't get much truck for $2000 these days, but I would keep looking and saving for something a little nicer myself. Good luck either way man!

I would probably pass as well if it is going to be your daily driver it has been a plow truck I would worry about the trans and clutch. The motor running on 6 cylinders is a big no because its dumping gas in two cylinders with out burning it. My brother has an identical truck only with a 302 and it is not geared to go on the highway the fastest he takes the truck comfortably is 55-60. Its your call man but not worth $2000 in my opinion

I would pass on this one. Too much work involved. And only a moron would continure to run a 8 cyl motor on only 6 cyl.
