Default Quality of the Fords F350/E350 6.4 Diesel

Hello guys, i am Clemens from the Netherlands and i do have a question.
We are thinking about purchasing a new F350 or E350. Becouse i am a little sceptic about american cars i thought maybe you can help me out.
I hope owners of these trucks can tell me more aboutthe quality and durability. And about problems with the diesel engine and/or the gearbox or whatever which problem.Alsotell me about the good things.
What is an average milage on the long term 250.000 miles?? I don't know.
Thanx for any reaction.
Greetz Clemens

I have the 6.0 which some guy's have had trouble with, but I love mine. When I looked to buy a truck I looked at fifferent brands(Dodge,Chevy etc) but liked the ford the best. Ive heard the 6.4 twin turbo is one of the best tow vechicles around,as far as being dependable it's hard to know because they are so new. Ive heard of guy's with a truck's like mine going 300,000 miles. The engine warranty is 100,000 miles on mine. Hope this help's

Hi, to answer your question to the best of my abbility, the ford 6.4 engine has proven to be a amazing platform much as the 7.3 was that was discontinued in early 2003 for the some what questionable 6.0. the twin turbo system on the 6.4 although still having turbo lag, has been reduced vs the old 6.0 setup. Towing capacity and ability in these trucks are next to none, by far the moost power imo out of the 3 major brands in todays market for diesel trucks. fuel economy with the 6.4 diesel is bismal, which is a price you will be paying to have all that extra power given with the dual turbo setup on these trucks. since 2008 was the first year for the new design, we have not seen the long term reliability of these trucks, Rads are an early sign that there are some issues. a terrible designe flaw alows the rads to crack and leak, but since has been fixed with redesigned fittings to eliminate these issues. another common problem is the regeneration process for emissions, typically the truck may seem sluggish for a short period of time, and heavy smoke may puke out of tailpipe, but in 2009 this although not gone, improved with when it happens, (i.e boost not changed, and a light indicating this is happening)...in the short run the 6.4 is proving to be what ford wanted to have with the 6.0 but sadly failed. if you tow a lot and dont mind the 6.4's fuel economy pick it up, great truck

I have two Ford E350 vans. The 1997 gas powered has 197,000 miles and still runs like a top. The 2004 Diesel has 417,000 KM and I expect to top 430,000 before year end. The gas E350 is a bucket truck and sometimes idles for hours. I also pull trailers pressure washing trailers with both. When I pull the trailers, I'm careful to not use the overdrive.
Except for regular upkeeps, and a new radiator in the gas truck, both perform in an acceptable and reliable manner.

The New Ford F350 6.4L is your call. I have new 2008 F350 Diesel with only 20k. I need
to install Particulate Filters and dealer wants to charge me $2000. I should never sold
my Chevy.
