Default Rear Axle Seals

Hey, I'm a proud new owner of an older 97 F-350 SRW diesel. Bought it from the Govt with about 119k on it so I can tow my rock jeep around. Has a service bed and quad cab on it for the tools and kids too. The engine computer went as soon as I got half way across the country, to the tune of 1800 bucks, but other than that, it is great. Now my rear axle seal on the driver side leaks when I park on a hill.

Does anyone know if this is an easy do-it-yourselfer? I have done axle seals on Jeeps plenty of times, but never on a truck this big. Is there a better seal than another to install? Is this a common problem or an indicator of other issues?

Next question is how to get more power out of the diesel, but I should fix the leak first!

First truck, first diesel, and loving it.

Thanks for any help

Dan
