I am in the market for 7.3L crew cab to do some moderate towing of about 10K lbs or so. I am concerned about the 2000-2003 transmissions since they'll be used and all.

does anyone have any reccs or input on what the best repalcement transmission available for the f-250s would be? is there an allison aftermarket available?

I can't help much...but Allison is pretty much Gm only..as Gm owns it

 

the E4OD is a good transmission. i worked in a transmission shop for a while never had much problem out of them. and the ones we did for a 4x4 truck we charged about 1400 to remove and rebuild. not to bad compared to most.
