Water pump help please.
I have just purchased a '88 Ford F350 Dually with an '88, or '89 Ford conversion deisel. The water pump went out, I started to change it out and got stalled with Fan. I unbolted 4 screws to what I thought was to the belt wheels, which I thought held on the Fan, and of course I was wrong. So would someone please be kind enough to to tell me how to remove the Fan so that I might finish removing and replacing the Water Pump. Also, where do I find the serial number for the motor so I can learn which motor was the actually put in here. Thanks very much.
I just replaced the water pump on my 2001 F350. You will need to get a water pump wrench set. They have a complete kit at AutoZone that you can borrow. The bolts that you took off of the pulley needs to be reinstalled because you will use them to set the U shape wrench head on in order to turn the fan clutch off with the long handle wrench. It should turn counter clock wise to unscrew. I did buy the book on mine and it makes it so much easier to work on it instead of guessing. Good Luck!
