Unhappy 69 dually help

Hi guys. I have a wheel / lug problem. I have a 69 c20 dually wrecker with 8 lug, wheels.
The studs are 1/2"x 20 thread. On the front, outside the wheel is a flat spacer that appears to be an adapter to use the tapered lug nuts. Does anyone know what this thing is called, and where I might find them??? Also, when I bought the truck, it had no rear wheels and the only thing I could come up with was the later wheels made for the 9/16" lugs. The wheels center ok on the hub, but the lugs are a little loose. Can the studs be drilled out and replaced with the later studs, or can I use the adapter like is on the front??
I have already made a couple of hauls with flange nuts for the rear lugs with no trouble, but I'm concerned about long term use as is......
