Hey all, I have an 84 GMC K1500 with a 305 and 700R4 tranny that I want to modify a little (oh, and it has factory cruise).

I would like to put a Stage II q-jet on from SMI (smicarburetor.com) , HEI MSD distributer, Edelbrock Performer manifold and cam, and a set of headers.

I heard today that in order to upgrade the carb and cam, I have to do something with the computer and change the cruise control to "manual override" or something like that. And upgrading the distributer is a must because of the computer.

I really don't understand all this and was wondering if someone could help me understand and if these upgrades are possible without messing things up.

p.s. I'm living in the People's Republic of California so I have to keep it smog legal.
