Hello, welcome to the Truck Forums.
Hopefully we can help you.
For starters are there any codes?
There are many things that could cause your no spark symptom.
-bad module(have personally seen multiple new ones bad in the box)
-bad pickup coil
-ECM
-wiring
Do you have a scan tool to help with diagnosis?
Do you have injector pulse?
Have you checked for spark out of the coil before the distributor?
Do you have an actual spark tester?

Sounds like maybe the pickup coil mounted to the dist. shaft.
It is a old school crank sensor reads compression stroke.
Will not get spark if bad ..will act like vehicle is out of time then quit.
Sometimes will start back when cooled off.
Can check ohm,s on it with a electrical meter.
Set meter to low ohm,s setting . Disconnect yellow and green leads from ign. module.
Take leads touch one to green other to yellow should read 700 to 1200 ohm,s of resistance.
