95 Chevy 1500 V-6 Motor

95 Chevy 1500 V-6 Motor

Have new alternator and battery. Battery guage on dash shows charging at times and other times its running off battery alone. Have checked all wiring and grounds. Checked on volt meter.

2nd half msg

do the 2 cables on the positive side of the battery have to be lined up in a certain way? or, could I have an intermittent short? thanks.

can different style battery cables be used on this connection?
