Default 97 6" Lift 1/2ton Steering issue

I have just purchased a 97 ext cab 1500. It has a 6" lift with 35's and the 5.7. I have noticed what seems like a dead spot in the steering, hard to explain it but while driving straight down the road it feels like the steering wheel free's up for a nano second and then grabs again....the guy gave me a new set of ball joints and he had replaced the pitman arm and some other front end components. It is pretty tight but needs to be aligned as it pulls to one side slightly. Not sure what is causing this. Any ideas?

Not yet as I wanted to know what may be causing it before I go to a front end shop. I have no idea on how to check this...Would the ball joints cause this? Maybe thats why they gave me them but I didnt notice anything wrong with the steering until I got it home and drove it a while.
Thanks
