Default Driveable without front drive shaft?

A friend of mine has a 1975 Chev 3/4 ton 4x4 auto with full time 4 wheel drive. The front drive shaft got bent and he took it out and is driving it a little bit and it seems fine without it. His question is will it damage anything driving without the the front shaft in place.
Thanks for any help.

I am currently driving without my front drive shaft & I wait for the replacement. No problems so far. I want to Tcase in neutral just because you can rotate the front driveshaft by hand to get to the bolts. It made it alot easier for me anyways.

Thanks for the reply. My friend is currently driving the truck with caution now and doesn't seem to be having any problems.
