Default Im lost

I have an 88 Gmc 1500 4x4 305 engine carburated 4 barrel and im not getting any fuel we believe it might be the fuel pump as there isnt anymore sound when you turn it on...when you prime the carb it starts then quickly dies as there is no fuel going in...now before we go and change out the pump we tested the electronics with a meter and got no signal from the harness from the pump. the harness to the dash fuse box had a reading and oddly the fuse box had nothing as well.. i cant seem to figure anything out what are some options? I get spark from the plugs and also the fuse that goes to the pump blew and we changed that Im lost Please Help
I am going to buy the whole pump kit with the sending unit and harness all attached and plug it in tomorrow as well as a new relay just to see if it was either of the two basic things..if not i have a feeling it maybe in the electronics in the whole truck are screwed up. Which i hope isnt the problem...and the engine isnt fuel injected anymore it was converted to carburated older engine from an older gmc but the idiot left all the remaining pieces there wires etc so its a bit harder to figure out but im praying its the basic one thing that we havent done the fuel pump itself im trying tomorrow...Thanks for any help please contact me with any thoughts at ace_69x2005@yahoo.com as this is my main email address and i check it more frequently.
