save my injector pump?
I was told by a diesel mechanic/farmer that if you add a quart of ATF to every 20 gallons of fuel itl replace the sulpher that was removed for the new ultra low sulpher fuel, its supposed to lubricate the injector pump anddoesnt cause any extra smoke I was wondering if anybody else has heard of this or has done it because I need something for my 1993 6.5 mostly because I cant afford a new pump, and the diesel kleen cetane booster/lubricant is 6 bucks a quart.
Yeah a lot of people do this. I don't know which type is best though, so what I recommend is MOA. It is the same thing but it is actually designed and sold to as an oil additive. I used to get it free when I worked for a VW dealer. Can't imagine it would cost more than a few bucks and the techs I worked with said it worked REALLY good for removing odd engine noises(ticking/tapping) and cleaning the engine's internals. On the flip side, I put some in my Camaro and I can't tell any difference. But I'll go with what the experienced have to say!
I talked to someone around town who's been using it in his ford for years and never had any smoking problems, which suprised me because I thought there would be for sure. I dont have a cat, I barely have a muffler.
After reading Argon's reply and your reply I realized I put my foot in my mouth. I read through your post too quickly and didn't realize you meant to put it in the fuel.....[sm=chairshot.gif]
