Starter issues
I have an 81 Chevy Truck 4X4 with a 79 or so 350 engine with a turbo 350 trans. I have put 6 or 7 starters on this truck and just replaced the flywheel a couple of weeks ago because the truck keeps eatin the starters. I cannot get it to shim out right. I will shim it and it will be fine for a few days and then it will grind again...sometimes like it is too close and others like it is too far from the flexplate. I figured I had a warped flywheel, so I replaced it. Truck was fine for a couple of weeks and now the same problems. I have been using the Advance specials for starters and wonder if I am just getting that many bad starters. Tempted to go AC Delco, but don't want to spend the money and it not work either. Any advice would be appreciated.
