I have a 1996 Chevrolet K1500 pickup. Lately On the highway when going up a hill it has trouble getting out of the overdrive gear it seems. It loses power and feels like the transmission is slipping. I have a bad Catalytic converter and it is setting off the check engine light. Could this be causing a malfunction that is screwing up the transmission from shifting correctly?

 

It should not affect shift points...but if the Cat is plugged,she'll bog down.

Don't forget the fuel filter either
