wats the problem?

i have a 1989 chevy k1500 with a 350 throttle body injection and when i get to about 2500 to 3000 rpm my engine revs up and down rapidly. What is the problem??

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU ARE ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE A SERIOUS TRANSMISSON PROBLEM.
