Default truck steps

By the way I have installed a couple Z-Benches on Super Duty Fords with the assist step. I think it is a better idea. Heck you can remove it in a few seconds. Or you get the lock option.

Default Tailgate Modifications

The Z-Bench does look like a nice accessory, but the problem is the same as anything that bolts onto the tailgate. Even when you remove it "in seconds" there are mounting brackets or even your bolt holes that are in the way when you are shoveling off gravel, unloading fire wood, or anything that gets pushed over the tailgate.

The reason I like the TailGate Master solution is nothing bolts to the tailgate - no trip hazards, no brackets, etc. Two holes are drilled in the bottom edge of the tailgate. These holes are never visible and join the other drain holes that the manufacturer includes in the tailgate. When you want the steps they are there, when you don't they aren't - and you can't tell there was ever any modification to the gate.

I have installed TailGate Master steps on Ford trucks with the built in gate because the users are finding the Ford step to be inadequate for daily use.

If you want a bench and don't really use your truck as a truck then I think the Z-Bench looks fine. If you use your truck as a truck then there's no other solution than a TailGate Master step.

Default truck tailgate step for tailgating

A perfect tailgate step to use for tailgating would be the one-step standard found at http://www.trucktailgatestep.com/ It is well constructed, made of a permanent mold cast aluminum alloy and is heat treated. It opens up at the perfect level to sit on and offers a secure handle to grip when accessing the truck bed. The cost is pretty sweet too. Check it out.

The coolest thing I stumbled upon was this z-bench (Z-Bench Pickup Truck Accessories Hitch Step Tailgate Step) thing . Im kinda interested, but I like do my research first. Anyone use this before? Anything like it?

Im open for discussion.
If it is good enough to tailgate on the RR tracks it is good enough for the parking lot!!

Not a bad idea.
Myself: I'm a retired truck driver, if I have any doubt or uneasy feeling before I move my truck... I will get out and do another walk around.

Moderator: Tailgate flag should be moved to it's own thread.

Smile comment on the tailgate spotter

This sounds like a pretty handy device. Perhaps we need to talk about our products. Check out TruckTailgateStep.com and give me some feedback. Thanks!

im mean to tailgaters, i brake check and have a huge hitch on the back of my truck that my dad got from a truck stop years ago....ill post a pic on here of it tomorrow.
personally, if i was you, i would get a hitch mount cargo rack or a bike rack, its a little money invested, but people stay back.

my grandfather put explosive chemical magnets on his Jeep Liberty and put card board cut outs of gas tanks in the windows. it seemed to have worked.

In my opinion, they are the most useless things ever, but at the same time, I'm 6'10".
