Default TH700r wont shift into overdrive?

I have a 1995 surburban and recently while driving at highway speeds overdrive quit working. I checked the fluid and no problems there. I don't have a TV cable on this truck (didn't come with one?) The tranny did shift hard from 1st to 2nd but now it shifts easy but have to get rpms up to 3000 before it wil shift into 2nd??

Give me details on what the problem might be and also how to fix it?

It's been nine months and no one has jumped in because it's not that easy to just tell you to replace part "X" and adjust you "ACME" screw.

You might have a shift solenoid that's bad, a restriction causing a change to fluid pressure and quantity affecting shifts or a semi plugged filter. It isn't just a "change this" and everything will be ok.

Hopefully you found a transmission shop that does free test drives and they gave you an informed estimate on what it might take. If so and you post it you can get some opinions on it it sounds reasonable.

Best I can do long distance.

Thanks for the reply to my message.. I can say that I did find a great place to look at my truck. He test drove it and gave me the run down on what it might be and how much it will cast for each probable cause. In the end it was a soleniod that operated first and overdrive.

Thanks for the reply and the information you provided..

Your lucky it was just a solenoid.
It is common for the 4L60E to strip out the reaction drum and loose 4th and reverse. That requires about a 80% trans teardown for a $30 part.
