okay. ready for update? Still cannot get trouble codes. code reader shows link to EEC-IV but will not retrieve codes. replaced the power relay to the eec. still no codes. I found the EEC-IV under driver's side dash. I have removed it and will take to local ford dealership in the morning. If that checks out to be good I have no idea where to go from there. Can you estimate the cost for another computer? just a ball park is what I am looking for. Oh and by the way I still think ford has a better idea. I have a 2003 F150 in the driveway to replace the F250 as my farm truck. Thankjs in advance for any help- joe

    ref F250 no start.
I bought a code reader for the ford truck. My neighbor is a mechanic for the city and he has been trying to help me. We followed the manufacturer's suggested procedure and hooked up to read codes. The code reader showed that it was linked to the computer. after 30 minutes it had not received any codes of any kind. we repeated the procedure step by step after checking the ground wire and got the same result.

I took the relay that says "EEC POWER" loose and it was warm to the touch. Our outdoor temp is still in the high 80's and the relay was warm to my touch- not hot but warmer than I thought it should be.
I will replace that relay in the morning but can you tell me where the EEC is located? I removed the right kick panel and could not find it anywhere. thanks in advance- joe
