Unhappy 1999 Silverado 6l Hesitation problem

Hi Everyone: I am a newbie to the forum, but have a problem with my 6l Vortec engine.
1999 Chevrolet Silverado LT Vortec 6.0 litre Hesitates on acceleration between 1200 and 1500 RPM. It stumbles, sputters and has no power mainly after it has been warmed up then stopped for about 15 minutes. Once warmed up it runs much better but still hesitates slightly. I have checked the Fuel pressure, fuel filter, plan on replacing plugs and wires next but feel it may be a faulty crank position sensor. The collant levels have been consistent so I don't suspect head gasket leaks. A friend suggested a stuck valve, which I am also going to check for by doing a compression test.
There are no codes displayed or stored.

Any advice would be appreciated?

Thanks
BirdDad
