Default New to the forum...would love recommendations for a pickup truck

Hi folks,

I'm brand new to the forum and am looking for my first pickup truck (ever). I am currently using my father's truck (he's 87, and no longer driving), but it's getting a bit unreliable for several reasons...it's a '95 Chevy S10. I currently use the truck to tend to my daugher's gravesite (I cut the grass weekly, etc.), but I also use the truck for various yard projects. I probably just need a mid-size (definitely don't need heavy duty), but would like it to have reasonably good gas mileage, and an extended cab so I could carry multiple passengers when needed.

I'm also looking to buy from the used market (not new), something under $20,000.

I realize that a huge part of this equation is me getting out and driving a lot of trucks to see what I like, but I'd like to narrow my search from the outset so I don't get side-tracked by some over-zealous salesman trying to meet his monthly quota!

Thanks for helping me start a working list!

2003-06 GMC or Chevy crew cab 1500 would be my suggestion.

I know it sounds like a lot of money to spend on a ten year old vehicle, but they are reliable, parts are very available, and I still think they look quite good.

You'll find quite a bit of brand bias
