New here
Hello all. Just thought id register and share what little knowledge i have as well as try to gain as much information possible. First off all, i apologize for all gramatical errors. My computer is currently down (virus) and i have resorted to my ipod touch, with such small keys that my thumbs hit multiple keys at once.
Second, i own a 2003 silverado 4x4 LS x-cab 4.8l charcoal gray with 300,000 miles. Shes my first vehicle and picked her up for 3800$. On kbb its valued at 8000$ in the condition its in, so i feel like i got a great deal, granted it needed a new cluster (240$), two front tires & alignment (350$ or so) and body work (300$, thr guy i bought it off did it as a deal)(allhave been fixed/replaced). When i bought the truck i didnt know the actual mileage (cluster was broke, didnt think of looking it up on carfax. I asked the dealer and he "didnt know") the truck looked to great to pass up on at such a good price. I figured it couldnt have more then 150k miles... I was wrong. I had the truck for 6 months and wanted to sell it (it rn great its just im really indecisive and figured i wouldnt need to haul my dirtbike anymore since i got a street legal bike. A guy called asked for the vin to check it on carax... He never called back. I checked carfax and it said 275xxx miles. Woah... I checked the title and it said 1275xxx, well there was no way it had a million and 275xxx would make more sense since it was a company fleet truck. Anywho, the truck runs excellent. I obvisoly didnt end up selling it and am glad i didnt. It is literally my dream vehicle. I love the color, look, interior, ride, and virtually every aspect of the truck. So far ive changed my transmission fluid (which is wearing down, shifts hard in the cold from 1 to 2 but in the warm it doesnt, but around corners it sometimes clunks). Other then that i have had zero mechanical issues.
Exterior wise, i backed into a little skiff tht was covered by overgrown grass an weeds, and my driver side rear fender has quite a dent. The bed is Ll scapped up, bumper is a little dented and is lacking a tailgate handle (who needs one anyways). I live/work on a farm, so having a scratch and dent free truck would be stressful and practically impossible. Plus the dents/scratches make it look more like a manly work truck imo. I just put a leveling kit in it (zone offroad torsion keys) which actually got ride of the weird steeringshaft bump as well as make the truck look soooo much better and beastly! I have hauled 2-4 ton trailers full of brewers grain like nothing. Im putting new front brake pads in within this week.
These silverados are truly remarkable in their perfomance, power, gas economy, ride, workmanship, and reliability. Forever i will be a chevy man, cause any truck that lasts this long and is in this kind of condition is not expected from a gas truck, but rather a diesel. It has blow my familys ford and dodge away when it comes down to every aspect of a truck.
Sorry for the large post, im bored and just wante to share my experience. I will get pictures up once i get a computer (and it doesnt look as bad as i described)
