Default New to off-roadin'

Hello to all. I have just recently purchased my first truck. It is a 1991 Ford F-150 Custom 4x4. As a first time buyer, I don't really know much about them. My truck has the 302 5.0L w/ Standard Transmision. The truck is lifted in the back but not the front (is this odd?) I have a couple question regarding lifts and tires. First, some one has told me of a leveling kit. What is this and how much about do the cost. Second, I want to put biggert tires on my truck. I was thinking either 33/1050/15's or 33/1250/15's. My question is, what size rims do I need for these? I could really use some help on this one.

the back lift is it 2 4 6 inches tall or what because trucks come from the factory 2 inches higher in the back as a standerd yours might only be this 2 inch lift but more noticable because of age. as for leveling kits, they are to level out the truck by adding 2 inches to the front to balance the factory 2 inches in the back. this kit will run you about 100 bucks assuming you install it yourself you should go on jcwtruck.com or acmetruck.com and get their free catologs to see whats out there. can't help you with the tires, sorry.

being a 4x4, I believe you should level it if you can, unless your planning on pulling or loading it down, then a slight lift in the rear would be ok. Tires, drive link, and steering links can wear faster if not done right or too much lift, it's the angle thing. There are many kits out there, Jason gave a couple urls, here is another, www.suspensionconnection.com
I have a 72 F100 390 beater lifted 2 inches with 36x10.50x16.5 TAs and all I had to do was shave the front lower corner of front fenders. My son has a 88 ext F150 302 with 33x10.50x15 on a stock set up with no problems. You'll need a 10inch wide wheel to avoid sidewall bulge. I wouldn't go with 12.50 on mine, too wide and too hard to turn as my old rig has armstrong steering. A good tire shop can give tire and wheel size advice. good luck and welcome aboard.

I think a leveling kit raises just the front end to level out the noise dive in the truck. I'm ballparkin the price on a leveling kit $400 to $800, but i'm relly not sure. I'm also getting 33's on my ram and i have 16" rims and no lift.
