Default New and self teaching on 88' GMC Sierra 1500 and 2000 Impala.

Hi,
Did not see this, I apologize.
My name is Melodie (Mel) and I recently turned 49. I fell in May of 2016 and hit my head, which caused a TBI (traumatic brain injury, severe concussion)
I am 100% better but not always 100%, if that makes sense, lol. It's been a wild ride.
So I bought this truck 1988 GMC SIERRA 1500.
It was to be my project but it rides great, needs cosmetic things but that's part of the fun. I actually was in a wreck while driving this truck down in Charleston, SC. I live in Lexington, SC.
It was the other person's fault and his Beamer crumpled like paper. He bent the frame on my Ophelia, and I bought her back for $125. Yes I have been told that my truck is not worth anything anymore because it has a salvage title, lol but I don't care.
So I have been doing research and reading Chilton's.
My hopes are that I will learn by reading other posts/questions, my brain injury makes me seem disjointed but I assure you I have great comprehension skills.
Oh yeah, I am a little wordy, working on that too.

Welcome—those are solid platforms to learn on. For the ’88 Sierra TBI, start with basics: verify 9–13 psi fuel pressure, clean the throttle body and IAC, refresh vacuum lines, and check the main grounds at the thermostat housing and frame; you can pull OBD‑I codes with a paperclip across A and B on the ALDL and count the flashes. On the 2000 Impala (3.4/3.8), watch for lower intake manifold gasket leaks and the plastic coolant elbows (on 3.8)—use the updated Fel‑Pro gasket set and aluminum elbows, and scan live data with an OBD‑II reader to catch misfires and temp issues. If either has a salvage title, inspect frame/subframe alignment and wiring splices first—uneven tire wear, bent core supports, or hacked harnesses will save you hours of chasing ghosts.
